Belair Creative Cards - August 2020

Last weekend we made the two cards below.

The first card we sponged ink and learned how to mask to create the sun. We stamped the small yacht from sailing home, lighthouse and sentiment  in night of navy

We then used the tasteful textures embossing folder to give texture to the sponged layer.

My second card I CASED from Narelle Farrugia, a fellow Stampin Ip demonstrator.

Sailing Home CASE

My card today is a CASE from the very talented Narelle Farrugia. I’ve admired her work for ages and love her work and style.  It has a unique flair that is just beautiful. You can see her card here

Base card is whisper white. Firstly stamp the lighthouse from sailing home in basic gray. Using a sponge dauber, ink up with versamark and then pool party around the top of the lighthouse. Then again use versamark and now ink up with seaside spray and sponge around the bottom half of the lighthouse. The versamark gives a softer look and blends easily.

Now using water painter with just water blend the lighthouse using only the already stamped image.

Stamp the happy from the family party stamp set on a thin strip of whisper white and trim. Cut Birthday from night of navy from well written dies.

From the smooth sailing dies cut the ships wheel from night of navy, stamp the anchor in basic gray. Layer both on front of card. Stamp the seagulls using night of navy.

My second card is very similar, but instead of using sailing home stamp set I have used the High Tide.

Free as a Bird using the dot colouring technique

Today I have had another try of the dot colouring technique that I shared here.
On today’s card I used the free as a bird stamp set and I decided to try a stamp to create the dots. I used two stamps from the my meadow stamp set which worked really well.  I’m really happy with the effect. In the blank spaces, I then filled in using the Stampin Write markers.

Colours used are seaside spray, balmy blue,  pool party, coastal cabana, Bermuda Bay, and misty moonlight.

Good Morning Magnolia meets dot colouring technique

The other day I saw this really cool technique by Jennifer McGuire that’s called dot colouring technique. You can see her video here

I have used the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set, stamped in Memento. Then using Stampin Write Markers - pacific point, Bermuda Bay, coastal cabana and balmy blue, apply dots around the outside of the stamped image starting with the darkest colour and gradually getting lighter. This makes the image pop.

Tasteful Touches and Birch

One of the cards that I made for my catalogue launch was using Tasteful Touches stamp set  I created a few different styles using the same basic layout

The card below was my favourite and the one I chose for my launch.

Card base – misty moonlight ½ sheet of A4.  Folded in half
Panel – Whisper White – 14.5cm x 10cm – stamped with images from Tasteful Touches in Balmy Blue and embossed with Tasteful Textile embossing folder
Panel – Not quite navy – 4cm x 10cm
Panel – Whisper white – 10cm x 3.2cm stamped using birch stamp set in Misty Moonlight.
Stamped Image – flower from Tasteful Touches stamp set (pg 124) in Misty Moonlight.  I have sponged the flowers.  To get that soft suble look, put some whisper white ink on a clear block, dab the sponge dauber in the balmy blue, and then dab on the whisper white.  The ink is a soft creamy texture and applies easily to the flower with minimal splodges.
Sentiment panel – night of navy – stamped in versamark and white embossing powder heat embossed.  Sentiment from lovely you stamp set and punched out with lovely labels pick a punch (pg 22) – whisper white – from the detailed bands dies, sentiment from Here’s a Card stamp set stamped in Misty Moonlight.
Stamp Sets:  Tasteful Touches, Birch, lovely you
Ink - Misty Moonlight, Balmy Blue

Paper – Whisper White, Misty Moonlight

A variation on the card above, using the oval die from the detailed bands dies.

Another variation, on a white base.

This card I used the In Good Taste designer series paper to give a nice contrast.

Good Morning Magnolia meets Spanner Panel Three Layer Fun Fold technique

I saw this fun fold card this morning in my email feed from a blog that I subscribe to from a fellow demonstrator Wendy Lee from CreativeLee Yours.  You can see her amazing card here.  The technique is called Spanner Panel Three Layer Fun Fold.  I then googled to see if I could see any other cards with this technique and found a great video tutorial from Susan Campfield here.

For my card, I decided to use some new product that I received last week.  It features the good morning magnolia suite of products.

On the front panel I have used the magnolia lane bulk dsp together with the detailed bands dies and the small flower from the good morning magnolia stamp set stamped in mossy meadow.  I then cut a second flower with the die and layered the vellum leaves sandwiched in between.  The greeting is from last a lifetime stamp set on mossy meadow and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The card base is petal pink.

I added a panel of whisper white on the bottom panel with a strip on each side of the magnolia lane bulk dsp, then stamped the greeting in the middle with mossy meadow.

Scrappy strips meets forever blossoms

Yesterday I had an awesome time watching a Facebook Live from Paula Dobson who is a fellow Stampin Up demonstrator from New Zealand.  The technique she focused on was using scraps of thin cardstock to create a striped background and then stamp on top using versamark and heat setting white embossing powder.  You can see her card and video on her Facebook page here

For my card I have used old olive, flirty flamingo, pacific point, Bermuda bay, pool party, mint macaron and Sahara sand. The flowers are from Forever Blossoms and heat embossed in whisper white. Flowers were then coloured in with Wink of Stella to highlight the flowers.

Timeless tulips revisited at Belair Creative Cards

This card came about as a variation of the card that we made at Belair Creative Cards in February. My card was CASED from Peggy Noe, fellow demonstrator. You can see her card here

The base card is blueberry bushel, with a layer of granny apple green.  The tulips stamped on whisper white using daffodil delight, then sponged the bottom of the tulip stamp with calypso coral.  Using the stamparatus, this technique is quick and easy.  The colours were then blended together with wink of stella.  Leaves and stems were stamped in granny apple green.  The background splatter was created using an aqua painter dipped into the lid of the basic gray stamp pad which had been pressed against the pad.  Squeeze the water through the aqua painter to get the water flowing then flick the barrel of the painter. Sentiment is stamped in blueberry bushel and layered on a strip of blueberry bushel.
