Great Tidings meets CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge - CTC337 - Step up a mini catalogue project

Todays project, I have chosen to do a challenge.  Challenges are great to get the creative juices flowing and the CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge is a great one to choose.  The challenge this week was to step up a project from the July-December 2021 mini catalogue CTC337.  I chose to step up the project on page 66 of the mini catalogue.

To step up the project, I used the be dazzling specialty papers in the SAB catty.

I also used a block with a dribble of whisper white reinker on it, with a squeeze of the wink of stella pen, which gives a nice sheen.  Mix it well with the wink of stella brush and then flick this ink on to your bottom layer.  It's a great way of making white splatter and gives a great effect. I also coloured in some of the bushes with this white wash.  The bushes were inked in versamark and clear embossed.

Herringbone Technique using Tidings of Christmas dsp

Last week at the Adamstown Uniting Church craft zoom chat session, one of my friends showed a beautiful card using the herringbone technique.  Everyone loved it so today I thought I would do a followup tutorial for today's craft zoom chat session.

Our project today uses the Tidings of Christmas 6"x6"  dsp.  Find 4 designs that you like and cut at 3/4" thickness.  So you then will have 4 pieces of 3/4" x 6" strips. as seen in our first picture below.

Cut a piece of Basic White, for your top layer.  Mine measures 10cm x 14.3cm.

Turn your card layer sideways and measure on the top edge in from the corner 1.5cm.  On the bottom edge, measure in from the corner 8.5cm.  Draw a faint line joining up those 2 points.  This is your starting point for your first strip of dsp.

Use your preferred adhesive and put a line of glue above the line - I like to put the glue straight on the card.  Line up your first piece of dsp on the line.  My second strip is now going to be at a right angle, being parallel to the first strip of dsp.  I started with the darkest of my dsp.  Do  2 more strips at the same angle.  To fill in the blank space, now turn the strips to be in the same direction as your first strip.  Glue these in place.  This gives an eye catching focal point for your card.

Stamp your sentiment in the bottom right corner of your layer, then place on your base card.
